Oh Well

Hey look at these Supergirl design sketches I did.

This was some nonsense I toyed with off and on for a while.  It started out with a vague, nothing notion of a few basic shapes that I wanted to build a costume out of, but ultimately I didn't really know where to take it and didn't have any good ideas.  So I think I'm just gonna let this one go. There are a lot of tendencies I have when designing these types of things that I need to break free of.  Too many go-to shapes and placements.  Probably why this one was a dud for me.

Is this type of thing something you'd like to see more of on this blog?

Honestly I feel silly posting anything when every other person posting art online is sharing incredible work and I'm over here like "look at this thing I gave up on."

I dunno.

See you next time.

One More Time

Hey look at this panel from Invincible #95.  This is the last one of these I'll post, I just like the way the blurry spot of the photo works with the scene in the way that it does?  I don't know words so that's as well as I can articulate it.

It was a really cool opportunity for us to do this story arc the way we did, with me (cory walker) drawing a backstory that was unfolding parallel to current events as drawn by Ryan Ottley.  It was a neat way to have both of us on the book at the same time.  Especially cool for Ottley fans (everyone) am I right.

Anyway, a lot of you are asking me what I'm working on lately and let me tell you, I can't tell you.

Alright, that's enough of this for today.  Goodbye.

Kinda Vincible, TBH

Hey look at this key art for the Invincible show.

Did you know that we're doing an Invincible animated series?  Well now you do!

The above piece was done by myself and the great Peter Rubin (Peter did most of it, I just drew the figures).

Anyway, if you want to, you can start to look at it on the 26th of March 2021 via Amazon's Prime Video service.

More of This Type of Thing

Hey look at this sequid from the cover of Invincible #100.  Another shot I found on my phone from forever ago.  I forget exactly why I took this photo at this time, maybe I had forgotten to record an image of the final pencils before I started inks and only remembered after I had inked this little glob.

Anyway, it's nice to look at stuff like this from time to time.

Ok, see you.

Time's Fun When You're Having Flies

Hey look at this, uh, drawing I did?  What would be a good name for her?  Leave your suggestion in the comments.

Traditionally Handsome

Hey look at these different pictures of the same drawing from a page of Invincible (the comic book).  I stumbled across these bad boys on my phone recently and it really made me miss working traditionally with a pen on a paper.  This story arc, Invincible #s 92-96, was the last time that I used this method on sequential pages (unless I'm quite mistaken) before switching to a digital workflow.

Sometimes I wonder how differently I would draw today had I not made that transition.  My work shifted drastically (I think) when I started inking myself in the early days of Invincible and similarly, working digitally must have put me on a path that has altered my stylistic growth. Always cool and healthy to dwell on the path not taken, am I right?

AND don't misunderstand me, I don't think one is better than the other when it comes to digital vs traditional.  That's not what this is about. I certainly don't think you're more or less of an artist if you use one over the other.  Ultimately, it comes down to what aspects of the process you find value in.  Be cool, make pictures however you want.

Anyway, who cares.

I Would Never

Hey look at this ad for something called "Kickfight."  I don't know who actually drew this or where it really came from, but it's a decent attempt at aping me. Pretty weird!

Anyway, this was the back cover to some bonkers-ass comic called "SolidBlood" that showed up out of nowhere with Robert Kirkman and Ryan Ottley's names on it, though they don't seem to have actually worked on it. Like I say, pretty weird stuff.

Bye.

Romance Dog

Hey look at this panel from ScienceDog.  There was a new back-up in issue 25 of Oblivion Song last year.  Did you see it?
